Los Angeles-based Overton Moore Properties (OMP) announced today a partnership with the Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) creating a “Day on the Job Program”.
The Day on the Job program will introduce students to the work of developers, investment managers, architects, designers, attorneys, engineer’s, contractors and other professional firms who are involved in the development of AVION Burbank. The Day on the Job program will be implemented over a span of two years with approximately one to two field trips per month for high school juniors and seniors. In some instances, the companies will visit the Burbank schools. Once AVION Burbank is under construction, the students will have the opportunity to visit the job site. “We are really excited to participate with BUSD in this partnership. Every company asked to participate we’re overly enthusiastic to get involved. We all believe that this program will provide young adults the opportunity to be exposed to various industries and hopefully guide them towards or thinking about a career.” noted Timur Tecimer, CEO of OMP and the developer of AVION BUBANK.
The goal of the partnership is to expose the high school students to senior executives within the participating firm to better understand that industry, career paths, the executive’s career path and open forum to discuss the industry and careers. BUSD will match the career pathway classes with each industry so the students attending that Day on the Job program with have an interest in that specific field.
Other firms that are excited to participate along with OMP in the program include Invesco Real Estate, CBRE, Gensler, HPA, Inc., Structural Focus, Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben Gartside LLP Reuben, Thienes Engineering, Looking LA, Ridge Landscape Architects, KGM Architectural Lighting, Nephew LA, Ardent Environmental OMP will be the umbrella organization organizing and paying for all costs associated with the Day on the Job program.
AVION Burbank is a proposed development in Burbank, CA formerly known as the B-6 site. It will be a place notable for its spirit of creativity and purpose, with pedestrian friendly facilities and work/lifestyle amenities designed to attract and retain a skilled and motivated employee base. AVION Burbank represents approximately 1.2MSF mixed use campus development on 60 acres of land. The project will include creative office, creative industrial, retail to serve the project and surrounding business community and a hotel site.
